Dear Coffee, I Love You

Here's a little fun fact about me, I love coffee. I'll take it in any way, shape, or form. Okay maybe not any way BUT as long as it's not sweet and dairy-free, I'm golden! Lately, visiting cute coffee shops and posting pictures on IG is the thing to do and hey I'm not complaining, coffee and pretty pictures; it's a win-win in my book. While in San Diego a couple of weekends ago, I went to two coffee shops that we're definitely worth visiting, Communal Coffee and Holy Matcha. Just before that I went to Coffee Dose in Costa Mesa, which is also worth checking out.

Before we dive into the goods, here's a little science behind the art of drinking coffee. Per Carlos, coffee is most effective when drinking it between the hours of 9am-12pm and 2pm-5pm. Not sure exactly where he heard that but because I trust mostly everything that my husband tells me, I've been having my daily dose/doses of caffeine during those times for the past year and a half. It has something to do with the cortisol levels that we experience throughout the day, so timing when you drink your cup of joe definitely has a science behind it.

Communal Coffee, San Diego

This was definitely my favorite coffee shop of the three, maybe it has to do with flowers, coffee + flowers? Either way, this coffee ship was bright, airy, and super adorable. I kept my coffee simple and ordered an iced almond latte, my usual  everywhere I go. If you're in the San Diego Area, this spot is definitely worth visiting!

Holy Matcha, San Diego

Okay this coffee shop was adorable as well, super fun and girly! The wall paper everywhere was to die for, loved the pink and green color combo. Here I got a matcha with almond milk, I know, pretty basic. The matcha soft serve was delicious, I wanted second but nonetheless moderation is key, right? Oh, the service here was amazing, the girls were very welcoming and friendly.

Coffee Dose, Costa Mesa

Feeling nasty? Their Anti Bitch Serum will have you covered. This coffee shop is a pop-up inside a hair salon. Also, worth checking our if you're in the OC area; it's decor is simple, clean, and IG worthy. I got "The Goldie", a turmeric latte with almond milk. To my surprise it was sweetened but I didn't mind it because it was just the right amount. I also tried the vegan matcha donut which was pretty delicious.
